At Warren G. Harding Middle School, our focus is educating students to make a positive difference in their community (school, city and beyond). Our schedule devotes a majority of the students’ day to rigorous learning opportunities in literacy, math and science concepts and skills. WGHMS believes in the importance of developing a positive peer culture. Our student leadership group, the Wolf Pack, is an avenue for students to develop their leadership skills in the building and to participate in a wide range of community service projects.
Genius Hour was integrated into my 7th grade science class as a means to incorporate more inquiry based learning. Students chose their own topics. The only requirement for the students was that at the end of their journey they need to be able to present their projects to the class, school, community, and the world. This web site is the product of using 1 day (Friday) out of our week, 20% of the school week. My hopes were to make the student an expert
